Delightful Illusions

Ola, people of the world! :)   I'm back for an another update of my Pan That Palette 2016. Unlike last year, I'm determined to hit pan on all of these shadows because I don't want them to go bad without giving them some love. I have this palette since December 2013 and I feel like I have not used them a lot back then. This is the AVON The Greens Eyeshadow Palette, which actually makes my brown eyes rock. This was the same palette I have used on my Pan That Palette Challenge 2015; this palette was almost full when I started the challenge last year. I have hit pan on 2 shadows last year; the shades 5 and 8, which were kind of the only shadows I gave my full attention last year.

My target on February was to hit pan shades 2 and 6, as I have said on my last update. Guess what? I've hit the pan on those two shades! OMG! This is so exciting! I was not able to have an update on March because busy with everything -- work and Graduate School. Anyways, I'm giving my update now. If you are interested on my update, just keep on reading. :)

P.S. 1st column is for the intro, 2nd column is for the 1st update, and 3rd column is for this update.

Shade 1: I have working on this shade for quite some time now. I always use a pencil brush to dig into this shadow; I use this regularly on the inner corners of my eyes, but it seems to take forever to reach the bottom. As you can see on third column, I have a deeper dip compared to my intro post and 1st update. I have feeling that I will hit pan on this soon.

Shade 2: I've hit pan on this gold shadow! Yay! I remember mentioning before that this eyeshadow is flaky and chunky and it really it is. The solution I have come up with is to spray face mist on the eyeshadow brush before putting it into my eyes. It serves as glue for the misbehaved eyeshadow like this. I like using this on top of my lids; it makes my eyes pop and awake.

Shade 3: A light mint green shade that doesn't have a good color payoff. This is the least used eyeshadow in this palette; It shows paler on the eyelids, which kind of annoying. I would love to use this green color daily, but it doesn't do well on the eyes. I have just found out that this looks better with a green base underneath. I used this on an event a few weeks ago and I loved it. I will use the technique again so I could hit the pan on this by the end of December.

Shade 4: I use this on my outer corner sometimes, and lower lash line sometimes. This is a strong color so I don't use this all over my lids. Maybe I'll do a green smokey look someday and I could use this eyeshadow on my entire lids. There's a dip going on there so I'll just keep up my work. Who knows, maybe I'll hit pan this sooner that I think.

Shade 5: I only use this when I in a hurry and I don't know what eyeshadow to put on. There's not a lot going on here since I'm focusing on the other shadows that I haven't hit pan on yet.

Shade 6: Hooray! Another hit pan on! I've hit the bottom on February, if you are wondering. I used this mainly on my outer-v for a nice green accent on my eyes. The color combination I had on February was great; but since I have hit pan on my targets, I moved on to other shadows because I have a lot of eyeshadows included on my projects this year. Anyways, I'm so happy I've hit the pan on this eyeshadow. :)

Shade 7: There's not a lot going on this eyeshadow also. I use this sometimes on my outer-v, if I want a blue accent on my eye looks. I also use this on my lower lash line to give my eye looks a nice effect. I hope to have a good use of this teal shadow this Summer; it's the most appropriate season to use this eyeshadow. I hope I could make this toned down whenever I'll use this when I'm on work. :)

Shade 8: Just like the two other shades, there's not a lot going on this eyeshadow. I've already hit pan this so I'm not really that interested in shadows. Since I have a neutral palette that I'm working to use up this year, I'll focus on that one. The palette have 3 brown shades. I'm pulling away my self from this eyeshadow so I could be done with palette I just mentioned.

Here's collage showing the progress I made since my introduction post. As you can see, I've made some significant progress. You can see some dents and pans. I hope I can make this project successful this year.

That's my update for March. I'll do another update on the last week of April. I hope you stay tuned for that. For my next targets; 1.)I'd like to hit pan on Shade 1, 2.) denting on Shade 7 deeper, and 3.) flatter surface on Shade 5. If you are doing this challenge too, please share with me your post or video so I could check on them. A comment is always appreciated and responded. I love talking to my visitors and readers. I hope you liked this post. Thank you so much for reading. I'll talk to you again. Have a nice day. Stay safe. XOXO

Hi! I'm Sylden and welcome to my blog. :) For today's post, I will talking about Project Pan Roulette and what are the products I have included on this challenge. Project Pan Roulette is basically a challenge where you pick products of certain categories, use those items, giving your self a time frame, but done in a roulette style. I have never seen a vlogger/blogger who had used an actual roulette (Haha!)  to pick their products; I have seen some people write the product categories on papers, roll them and pick as many as they want. Usually, people will switch products every 2 months, when a season ends, or when a certain date comes (i.e. 4th of July). In my own interpretation, I think that this project aims mainly to use products in a switching manner on a year, or for a period of time.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I currently have 3 projects going on. I have only been focusing on the products that are included on my projects, thus, ignoring my other makeup items. I see this Project Pan Roulette as an opportunity to use my other products, while I have things that I need to use up. I would like to give my products some attentions, even if I'm focusing on certain things. I decided to give this project a try; I made up my mind to switch products every month. :) Anyways, I did the rolled paper thing to pick my 10  products, and I would like to give a shout out to Megan for the Project Pan Roulette Category Ideas. The following are the categories I got to pick for the month of April:

A product you regret buying:

Monomola Wow Long Lasting Lip Color (Cherry Red). I regret buying this because I don't like that this like an actual tattoo. I have to wait 10 minutes for to peel off the product on my lips. The color swatch on pictures is actually misleading; the online seller posted pictures with vivid swatches. The seller didn't tell me right away that I need to peel off this thing on my lips. This a Korean product and the box that it came with did't had any English words. The product itself isn't long lasting at all. I have eaten once and the stain had visible marks of fading. I have ignored this product ever since, but I need to use this again so I won't waste the money I paid for this.

Your most recent purchase:

Quick FX CC Cream. I bought this last March 29, together with a BB Cream and a blush/bronzer duo. I chose this one because I'm currently using this as my base for my face. I'm still forming my thoughts about this. Anyways, I'll just keep using this product so I could give you my opinion about it towards the end of the month.

Your oldest blush:

REVLON A Floral Affair Collection Blush (Pinking of You). I have this blush for 6 years! Can you imagine that?! I bought this on November 2009 and this is the first blush on my collection. This product contain 3 shades of pink, but if you mix the 3 together, you'l get a barbie pink shade. This has a matte finish, which I really appreciate now. I just don't why I didn't even hit pan on this. Haha! The smell stayed the same over the years. Yay! I know I'll get use a lot of this blush this April. It's perfect for Summer!

A long-time favorite:

San San Waterproof Mascara (Thick Lash). I have already talked so much about this product already. I have gone through 3 bottles of this mascara already. I kept on coming back for this products because it gives my lashes a nice amount of drama, not the overwhelming, shocking kind of drama. I love this for everyday use because it stays all day long and is definitely waterproof.

Your favorite body lotion:

Vaseline Body Lotions. I love the lotions from Vaseline! I have used some of them and I loved all of them. They're formulas are non-greasy, even the thick ones. They don't leave a sticky feeling on my skin which I really love. This brand is my favorite for body lotion. Anyways, I think I'll use up this product in a week, or 2 weeks. I'll see.

A metallic product:

Essence Crystal Eyeliner (Rosy Rush). This is the closest one I have to a metallic product. I love how the glitters are so fine; they feel like flexes and not chunks of products. This has pink glitters with gold flexes which looks pretty on the eyes. I like using this on top of my eye shadows because it isn't overwhelming. I'll try to incorporate this with the looks I wear from day to day.

A product in pencil form:

L.A. COLORS Eyeliner/Eyebrow Pencil (Black). Just an ordinary eyeliner pencil. It's not pigmented, it smears, and doesn't last long on my waterline. I picked this one because I'll try to get a good use out of it so I could prepare this for my Project Pan next year.

A product a carry on your purse:

Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder (Nude Beige). I've been using this since last year, but I still can't finish it yet. This product is also included in my Products I Want To Use Up In 2016, which is one of my projects for this year. I think that is product is nice for touch-ups. It's not oil-controlling at all and doesn't lasts all day, as opposed to what it claims. I still like this powder though; it applies smoothly and has SPF 25 (so great for the Summer!)

A product you won't repurchase:

Careline Oil Control Liquid Make-Up (Oriental). This is the worst makeup product I have tried in my entire life! I have done a First Impressions Review for this product; and I still have the same impression for the last 2 months. It doesn't absorb oil at all and feels really sticky on my skin. I think even people with dry and normal skin wouldn't like the feel of this on the skin. This sucks!

A cruelty free product:

Human Nature Purifying Face Scrub. I'm sorry if I don't have a picture of this product. I forgot to bring it while I was shooting. Haha! I've talked about this product on my March 2016 Favorites, read the post so would know what this product is all about. :)

Those are the products I picked up for this month's Project Pan Roulette. I'll give an update towards the end of the month. I will also do a roulette again for May and so on. Are you doing this project too? Let me know your experiences and thoughts regarding this project by leaving a comment. I love talking to my readers and visitors. I will talk to you tomorrow. Thank you so much for reading. Have a nice day. Stay safe. XOXO

Hi, guys! Welcome to my March 2016 Favorites post! :) I missed February, and so I thought I would share my favorites this month because they are actually the same from the previous month. I got to discover some skin care and makeup products last last month and I loved most of them. There are some things mentioned in this post like application technique and product combinations. If you are interested to know them, just keep on reading. :)

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in True Toffee
It's one those lipstick that you will love for the rest of your life after you have applied this on your lips. I'm not even exaggerating guys. The formulation is creamy, has smooth application on the lips, and moisturizing all through out the wear. The products claims to be long lasting and rich in pigmentation, which I think is true based on my experience. This True Toffee shade comes off as peachy nude which has a cool to neutral tone. I'm a light-skinned with warm undertone person; I didn't think cool-toned nude lip colors will not look good on me. If you are looking for an affordable, great quality, long lasting lipsticks, check Maybelline's Color Show makeup line.

AVON Simply Pretty Lip Defining Pencil in Nude

Another AVON product again. Yay! Honestly, there's not a single makeup product from AVON that I didn't like. The products that I got from this brand are all great. I'm not kidding, guys. Anyways, I loved this lip liner the past month (and still it is this month) because it's a easy use; it's a no-brainer product, glides smoothly on the lips, and easy to clean the excess. This products looks pretty dark on the liner, but goes on light on the lips. It comes off as a warm light brown shade which actually looks good together with the lipstick I mentioned above. I highly highly recommend this lip liner if you are looking for a budget friendly but good one.

These are the swatches of the products I just talked about. As you can see, the other one is cool-toned and the the other is warm-toned. I have worn this combination during a celebration event we had last week; I have loved it because the products stayed long on my lips for hours. I have only retouched once. Anyways, please excuse my face here, my falsies was still wet and my eyes were feeling heavy. Haha!

Human Nature Purifying Facial Scrub and Human Nature Balancing Face Toner

"A good skin is a happy skin. A happy skin is a healthy skin. The more organic the ingredients are, the better." That was my quote, which I said during my mini makeup lesson that I have given to my office mates last Monday.  Recently, I was starting to ditch my skin care products because I wanted to use organic products for my skin care routine. Human Nature is a local brand that has emerged years and years ago on the Philippine Market, aiming to bring an array of 100% organic skin care products without the high price.

I have recently ran out of a facial scrub, so I browsed a grocery for a new scrub to try on. I saw the Human Nature Purifying Facial Scrub which has real strawberry seeds. Strawberry seeds used as a face scrub?? Wow, that's sounds so cool! I love how this scrub makes my skin feel cleansed and purified without feeling the usual tightness I feel with other face scrubs. It has that clean sweet scent which isn't overwhelming at all. It's not really for fighting for oiliness and pimples, but it is a gentle scrub for daily use. If you are looking for an affordable organic face scrub, check this product out.

I also bought this Human Nature Balancing Face Toner because I remember loving this way back on 2012; It was year I first tried this product. I loved it, and I love it still. It feels light and gentle, somewhat moisturizing, and smells so nice. This toner is never tightening nor drying. I love it a lot. Enough said! :)

Daiso Hyaluronic Acid Mixing Face Mist
An acid mixing mist for your face?? Is that safe, Sylden?? Haha! Worry not, my friends. This is a safe mist that could be used daily. I have searched the internet about this Hyaluronic Acid and I found out that this acid is used on products that helps heal wounds, dry pimples, and other related stuff. This product is not bad at all! I bought this because I was intrigued to see how this works that first I time I saw it on the store. This is nice for moisturizing the face before applying makeup, setting the face, mixing it with flaky eye shadows, and a lot. I love how this fixes my face when a product decides to cake on my skin suddenly. :) This is a life saver! Haha! I might forget to mention that this has alcohol and isn't organic at all. I don't if this is even safe for sensitive skin. If you have no any problematic skin conditions, this might work for you as well.

The next thing I'm gonna talk about is actually a technique I learned from Michelle of ReadySetGlamour. A couple of months ago, she uploaded a video about Do's and Don't s of makeup. One of the techniques that really caught my attention was the one in which she demonstrated to set the eye primer/base with a powder. I tried the technique the next morning and I was amazed. The powder absorbed the moisture on my lids, making the eye shadows to blend better and lasts all day long. I also noticed a minimal creasing towards the end of the day. If you haven't done this technique, please try it. You will love it and see the difference. I use the Esssence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base on my lids and set it with the Clean and Clear Oil-Control Pressed Powder. This combination works for me and I love it. :)

Victoria's Secret Fearless Fragrance Mist
Oh My God. This perfume describes me -- FEARLESS.  It's sweet, sour, fruity and alluring at the same time.  Victoria's Secret described this as: "Attitude is everything in this modern take on a seductive floral scent, here in a sheer fragrance mist." The scent is floral with blackcurrant, purple diamond iris and orris notes. The scent kind of reminds me of the ZARA Oriental Eau de Toilette, which has girly seduction in it. They're not on the same family of notes, but they are on the same family of floral fragrances. They have both seductive scent; the VS is hardcore and the ZARA is toned down. Anyways,I love this Fearless Fragrance for everyday use. It's something that screams "me". I'm a fearless person and I know it. Haha!

Those are my favorites for the month of February and March. What are your current favorites? Please share those with us by leaving a comment down below. I love reading and replying to comments. :) If you have any requests, please let me know. Thank you so much for reading my favorites. I hope you enjoyed this post. I will talk to you soon. Have a great week, everyone. Stay safe. XOXO

Project Makeup Low Buy is challenge I have imposed on myself that I should do this year. This project aims to control my makeup purchases per month and save money. I committed to purchase 2 makeup products at most per month; I excluded mascara because I only buy 1 at a time. I promised to show all the products I bought and give reviews.

February was the month where I purchased 4 makeup products. Pretty bad, huh? I did not feel bad at all because I knew that I needed the products I bought. An office mate of mine asked me to do her makeup for the department's anniversary celebration, which was held last February 19. Knowing that I need to buy some things, I decided to break my own rules and went on a shopping spree. I picked up a black liquid eyeliner because I didn't have one; I picked up a soft brown brow liner shade because I didn't have any either. Anyways, if you are interested to know the products I bought and my thoughts about them, just keep on reading.

San San Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (Black)
I had this eyeliner before, like 6 years ago, and I loved it. I got the brown one during my college days; I remember this liquid eyeliner being easy to use and lasting all day long. I needed a good eyeliner for my office mate who asked me to do her makeup for an event. I used this on her mono lids and they liked the look on her. She is the type of girl who doesn't wear any makeup, not even lipstick.

Pigmentation is on its highest level -- vivid at one swipe. It has the typical felt tip applicator which kind of hard to control, on my part at least. The I really love about this product is the longevity. This stays all throughout the day; it doesn't smear and transfer. If you are looking for a good liquid liner that is affordable, get this one. It costs only Php 100. :)

Cherimoya Retractable Waterproof Lip & Liner Pencil (Mahogany)
Cherimoya is a makeup brand that I have never heard before. I saw these liners before, I got curious, I almost bought it, but I didn't. Then, just this February, I went back to the store Branded For Less and finally decided to try this one. I was in need of good lip liner and I thought that this product might work. Since I have been working on a dark berry lipstick for my project pan, I decided to pick this shade in Mahogany -- a deep mauve-brown color.

This has a creamy, thick consistency with a nice pigmentation. It feels thick on my lips, not smooth to apply on, and leaves small chunks of product. I think it pretty blends well with the Clinique Different Lipstick in A Different Grape, which is currently on my project pan. Defined lips is what I see when I use this product. I like that seals my lipstick on place. I wouldn't say that I don't like this because I still haven't tried using this on my eyes. It's nice liner though.

Daiso Brow Liner Slim (Brown)
I'm not sure if that's the name of the product because it wasn't stated on the packaging. Annoying, eh? I bought this product for the spoolie brush that it came with. I have been meaning to buy a spoolie for my brows, so when I saw this I immediately bought this. I also needed a brown brow liner for my office mate; I didn't think she would jump into my strong brow game.
This has a soft touch on my brows; it's not dramatic nor pigmented. I like this when I feel like I need a more natural looking brows without the effort. I need to swipe a couple of times to see a color. The slanted shape is not good for defining although it's slim. This lasts a long time when worn alone. This is a perfect product for on-the-go moments. I recommend checking this one out.

Those are the makeup products I bought on February. I have mentioned that I bought 4 items but I have only shown 3. The other product has its own post; it's the First Impressions Review: Careline Oil Control Liquid Makeup. If you have any request for an in-depth review on any of these products, please let me know. I would really appreciate it. I will post my March products as soon as I have tried all the products I bought. Thank you so much stopping by. I'll talk to you tomorrow. I hope you are having a great day. Stay safe.

Hey, guys! How are you? I've got  pretty much long vacation from work starting todqy until Sunday because we are celebrating the Holy Week. It's spiritual practice of Roman Catholics, and other religions who believe in this season , where we observe fasting and abstinence. You might see posts from this blog more often now; I have already finished my subjects for my master's degree and I have just to take my Comprehensive Exam in August in order to proceed to my thesis. This is such a relief for me, guys. I have been working so hard for the last three years; having a work on weekdays and going to school on Saturdays was so hard I almost gave up. Anyways, I will sharing with you a nail art that I have came up with last month. February is the season of proms in the Philippines; I was supposed to post last month but I wasn't able to. If you are interested on how I achieved this design, just keep on reading.

I was inspired by the Bobbie Royal Caviar Collection in Gorgeous Princess. It was a nail set with a shimmery black nail polish with multi-colored caviar pearls. I believe these came out way back in 2014 and I'm not sure if you can still get them on the market. I was curious as to why a princess would wear a black nail polish? Typically, princesses are loaded with pink and purple clothes and other things, right? How could this set represent a "gorgeous princess"?  A princess in black sounds so gothic. Haha! ☺ I thought that this set was perfect for a masquerade-themed party; I just have to add some jewels and decorations to make it look more alluring. I have decided to mimic a crown for this design.

Clean nails are happy nails. Clean your nails first before heading to a nail art session. Put some glue around your nails, making sure not touch the nail itself. This will ruin your nail design once you remove the glue on the later part. Why should we put glue? So that it will be easier to clean the mess after you're done putting your nail polish. Let it dry for a while so it won't mix with the nail polish.

You will be needing these items for the design:
  • Any black nail polish would do
  • Caviar pearls - any color would do
  • Nail gems - you could find these on department stores and craft stores
  • Nail tattoos - you could find these on department store or novelty stores
  • Glue - for cleaning up the mess later on
  • Water - for the nail tattoos
  • Scissor - for cutting the nail tattoos
  • Patience and perseverance!

This is the closer look of the caviar pearls. A combination of blue, green and pink pearls is kinda cute, eh? 😉

To achieve the nail design, follow these simple steps:

  1. Apply a base coat of your choice. Let it dry for a while, and apply a black nail polish.
  2. While the lacquer is still wet and sticky, choose a gem of your taste and press it hard on your nails. Put in a higher position so there's still a space for the nail tattoo later. As you can see on the picture, I have put to gems on my thumb because there was still a lot of space.
  3. Cut a part of the nail tattoo of your liking. Choose a design that has a mettallic finish and imitates the edges/curves of a crown. Soak it into the water for 10 seconds. Pick the tattoo and place it facing your nails. Gently slide the paper on the tip of your nails. Make sure to fit the nail tattos first on the tip of your nails in order not waste a lot of product. Be sure to be quick in adjusting the tattoo if there are any misalignments because the tattoo stick into the nails really fast.
  4. For the accent nail, dip you ring finger into the caviar nails. This will speed up the application of pearls into the nails. Tap you your finger to remove the excess caviar pearls.
  5. Press the decorations really hard to ensure that they won't fall easily. Apply a top coat, repeat if necessary. Let it dry.
  6. Remove the glue around your nails slowly. You will see that gives a cleaner edges because the excess nail polish went on the glue, not on the skin.
  7. Have a picture of your nails and post it on Instagram! Haha! 📷

This is the nail design I came up with. What do you think of this? If you'll remake this, please tag me on Instagram so I could see your creation. It looks hard to do, but it's super easy. It doesn't a professional skill to do this design. Just choose the right items and you'll end into something amazing. 😃

If you enjoyed this tutorial, share this post to others. Please let me know your thoughts, requests, and suggestions by leaving a comment down below. I hope you liked this nail art. Thank you so much for stoppig by and reading this post. I will talk to you again. Have a nice day. Stay safe. ❤❤
