Delightful Illusions

Calamansi, or Calamondin (for other countries), is widely used in different fields. It's like a small version of lime but less sour. It could be used for cooking; eliminating stinky odors for meat, poultry, or pork and neutralizing sweetness for pastries. I don't know if you do this too in your country but here in the Philippines we used it in substitute for lime/lemon. This fruit is way more affordable and very abundant here in our country.

My family have some tips on how to use Calamansi aside from using it on cooking. You could use this fruit for:

1. Whitening

Yes, the extract of this fruit is mixed in various beauty products like soap, lotion, body wash, facial cleanser and other. My aunt use this in bleaching her armpits for years. To do this, take one and slice in half. Squeeze the first half on one of your armpits do the same to other part. Do this at lest 15 minutes before you take a bath so the juice would sink in. Her under arms are white and almost flawless. You can also use this trick on other parts of the body you want to lighten.

2. Anti-Dandruff
Having problems with itchiness on your scalp? Don't worry, there's an immediate solution for it. The juice of this fruit is way more effective than any anti-dandruff shampoo out there. Squeeze, let's say 5 of this, and massage the extract on your scalp. The acidity of this is strong, so be careful when pouring the juice on your head. It's a little bit stingy at first so be ready. If do this once a week, you're dandruff will lessen. :)

3. Loose Weight
My mom advised me to drink a shot of pure Calamansi juice before breakfast to help lose my baby fats (belly). Haha! I don't how much should I squeeze, maybe a full shot glass. I forgot to ask her, sorry. She's working on China so I guess she got the tip from Chinese people. She's also switching to a vegan life and I can see that she's loosing weight. Anyways, there's no harm in trying this.

We currently have two trees of Calmansi, located on my granny's garden. They bear fruit really fast, so we don't buy Calamansi on market at times. They go overripe quickly so it's best to pick and use them immediately.

You'll know when a Calamansi is ripe if turns from solid green to yellow green. Like the one below.

Those are some tips that I know in using this amazing fruit. If you have any additional tips, please let us know by leaving a comment. I would really appreciate that.                     Love is in the air, I see hearts everywhere. Valentine's Day is coming up -- within two days to be exact. Isn't it exciting? :) Haha! For the first time in my 21 years of existence, I got so excited for the V-day. What's up with me? Hmmm. :) Anyways, I was able to do my nails yesterday and I came up with a simple nail art that I will be wearing for the big day. I bought my outfit like a ago, I might post an outfit of the day. I'm sorry if this is the only post I have for the season of love, I had many ideas but they were not put into action. My apologies. ^_^

This is the final design I came up with.
As I have said, my finished work is simple, I just added some nail decorative stones. Red is too mainstream for Valentine's day so I opted for pink. Who's with me? Haha! Pink gives a youthful and lively vibe, like what I'm feeling right now. :D I used a Barbie pink color as a base for my nail art. You can use any shade of pink that you like if you decided to try/re-create this design.

To be a little bit different than the usual, I have put the nail decorations only on my thumbs and pinky fingers. These stones were actually posted on my What I Got For The Holidays post. If you are interested on where did get these, please visit the linked post. :) I placed that stones in a completely random order. As you can see, I filled up the whole space of a finger to make those selected to stand out. The decorations are reflective in person, my camera didn't give justice to the beauty of these.

Since the remaining fingers are pretty plain, I coated those with frosted lilac color. It's the Lilac Pearl from San San, which was was featured on my Purple Fantasy nail of the week post. Two coats for intensified reflection.

Final look. :)
Tips:
1. Let the base color dry for 20 minutes for a flawless canvas.
2. When the base had dried, put a top coat. Then put the stones in order that you like. press it hard enough to make it stay intact for at least a week.
3. Two coats of top coat over the decorations for longevity.
4. The nail art will last long depending on how careful you are. :)

 Products used:

  • Caronia Nail Hardener and Base Coat - department stores, grocery stores, beauty shops
  • BK 08 (Pink) Blueberry - online shops
  • Nail Art Stones - Chinese boutiques, online shops
  • San San Nail Polish in Lilac Pearl - HBC
  • My Polish Top Coat - beauty stores

Ola! :D I'm excited for today's post. It's a DIY (Do-it-yourself). Yay! A reader actually requested for a project and it was in a perfect timing because I'm currently decorating my room. Well, it's more actually of spicing up. Since I'm not yet finished with it, I decided to take pictures and show them here in my blog so I could give some ideas. It's just really simple, no hard force needed. Just patience and imagination. Doesn't cost much, just a little for some materials. :)

Today, I will be showing my current project on my room. It's a fashion and beauty wall. What it is? Basically, it's a wall full of fashion and beauty related cut outs from old magazines. It's like my compilation of favorite outfits, looks, products, ads from brands, quotations, tips and more. Like doing a collage on the side wall of my closet. My mom doesn't allow me to post anything on my room's wall. So, my closet's the perfect substitute. Haha! Actually, I started this way back in 2011 but wasn't able to finish it because I got lazy. :D I'm apologizing in advance for the not so clear pictures because I have no source of natural lighting in my room. I had to use flash. Let's start now.

Materials:

Old magazines. The ones you don't read that much anymore.

A pair of scissors and a double-sided tape. (It's better than glue).

Steps:

  • First, cut out images that you would like to use. It could be your favorite products, looks, outfits, tips, just anything. Plan ahead on what your collage would look like.

  • Then, cut a a fair length of the tape. Just enough to support your image so it won't fall off easily. Part in to two. You'll save a lot of tape if you do this.

  • Lastly, remove the white paper that covers the other side of the tape and the images as you have planned. Use your creativity in making the collage. Please be careful in making this, especially if you have high wall like mine. You might need someone to assist you.

I love Revlon, Marc Jacobs and Mango.

The left picture's an ad for Louis Vuitton. One of my fashion inspirations.

More fashion tips.

Bright accessories rock! \m/

An overview of my fashion and beauty wall.

Yeah, my wall's not yet finished. I say, 80% done. I'll update and post a picture once I finish it. Did you like this? Would you try it? Please let me know about your thoughts on this one. That would greatly appreciated. Any requests? Tell me, I'll work on it. Thank you so much for reading, people. Have a great day. Always stay safe. :D XOXO

I'm not being compensated to show the magazines. Purchased them myself.
