Delightful Illusions

I'm one those people who have had gray hair at a very young age. I inherited this condition from my dad's side. I remember having gray hair strands when I was at sixth grade and my classmates teased me about my hair. I didn't do anything about it at first because I didn't want to dye my hair at all; I have an originally reddish brown hair and I loved it so much because it made looked like a foreigner. I'm a Filipino but I have Spanish and Chinese ascendants making me a mestiza. I started dyeing my hair way back in 2010, when I was a 3rd year college student. Since 40% of my hair was already gray, I decided that it was time to let my hair be dyed. I went from dark brown, golden tones, burgundy, blonde with highlights and more since then. I have also experimented with hair styles and hair treatments which made my crowning glory even more dry.

Back in 2013, I discovered an affordable hair dye from a local brand and is incredibly cheap which is sold for Php 49 only. At first I was skeptical about it because cheap products tend to have low quality and usually causes allergic reactions to most people. I tried this hair dye and I liked it; it's long lasting, doesn't fade and easy to apply. I'm generally not allergic to any hair dye brands and formulas so I can't really much say of how this reacts to the scalp. Always do a test on hair dye before applying it to the hair. Some dyes contain harmful ingredients like ammonia and others. This Glam Works Hair Dye doesn't contain so it's good for me. I have recently dyed my hair Chocolate Brown from the same brand and it looked golden on my hair. I guess the shade got mixed up on the other colors I have worn on my recent dyes. I dye my hair every two months because grows fast and the roots are always dark which doesn't match the rest of my hair. For this month, I have chosen the Dark Brown color because I want to have a dark hair again and I think it suits my gray-brown eyes well.

I always wash and shampoo my hair before dyeing it. You would want a clean, oil-free, fresh hair and scalp before dyeing the hair. I don't use conditioner before applying hair dye as it might not stick to the hair strands pretty well. Combing the hair will help the efficiency of the application because it will detangle the washed hair. I also use a pre-treatment serum before I apply the hair dye to protect my not so luscious locks from further damage that I have already caused. Haha! :) I divide my hair and dye it on parts to cover my gray hairs pretty well.

I concentrate the product on my roots because that's where I need most coverage. Then I comb the product evenly to the rest of my hair. Massaging the product unto the hair would also help spreading the hair dye. Going back and forth between applying, combing and massaging may take a while especially with long hair but it definitely worth the effort. The back side might be difficult since I can't really see if I apply too much on one part, but I always manage to estimate my product application and get it done right. Haha! Anyways, after consuming all of the product, I combing my hair again because I really want it to look neat and even. I know, sometimes I'm lenient as fuck. I let the product soak on my hair for 30 minutes since I have gray hair.

I wash my hair after 30 minutes and making sure that all of the color treatment have already drained from my hair. After doing so, I grab a conditioner and mix it with a repairing mask or hair treatment and apply it to my hair and leave the mixture for 5 minutes. The hair treatments I use varies from time to time, depending on what I have bought or products that I'm trying at the moment. For this past month, I have been using L'oreal hair products as I find them effective and does really help treat my hair from dryness and breakage. I like the Elseve Total Repair Deep Repairing Mask because it smells good and makes my hair feel soft upon applying it, plus it isn't that expensive. I find this affordable basing on the local price. That's already a good deal! The Arginine Resist isn't really that conditioning, I'm not even sure if this is a conditioner or a leave-on treatment. Haha! I love experimenting with though. It works good when mixing it other conditioners.

This is what the Dark Brown color looks on me. I love how it's dark, not on the black side, and gives that taupe vibes. It makes me look fresh and younger. I think I might stick with this color the entire year as I really the love the look of this on me. What do you think guys? Do you have a hair care routine as well? Please share it with us on the comments sections. I would love to read your tips and tricks as well! I hope you enjoyed this post and stay tuned for more. Have a nice day everyone!  XOXO

Happy Holidays! :) How was your Christmas, guys? I'm sorry for being inactive this couple of weeks, I was busy with work. I'm currently here in Quezon City, Manila to celebrate the rest of the Christmas break with my aunt and cousins. Anyways, I'll be post my  "What I Got for the Holidays 2014" soon and will be followed by a Holiday Shopping post. Haha! I have noticed that nobody entered my giveaway (☃✉❅_Happy Holidays Giveaway 2014_☃✉❅)  yet so I'm gonna extend it until January 10. I hope somebody will enter. :) Haha!

It is the time of the year to do another "empties" post, it's basically a quick review of the beauty products I have finished and decide whether I would repurchase them or not. I have posted the first one way back in July; ✔✔ Product Empties ✔✔ I promise not to make this really long as it is tiring to read a really. Haha! I will make this short and concise.

In no particular order, I'll start with this Shokubutsu Hana Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, which came out on the market earlier this year. I was curious about this brand so I tried this formula. I don't like this because it makes my scalp itchy and it doesn't fight dandruff. I will not repurchase this. Head and Shoulders is still the number anti-dandruff shampoo for me. :)

Again, I bought this Naturals by Watsons Argan Oil Conditioner out of curiosity. It's nice, makes my hair feel soft right after I rinse it. I have neutral opinion with this product because I haven't used it with its matching shampoo. I cannot give a reliable review. I like this but I will not buy this again because I have a plentiful of pure Argan Oil bought straight from Morocco. ;)

Schwarzkopf Q10 Recharge Conditioner is by the far the best conditioner I have ever tried. It makes my hair soft, smooth and shiny. How I wish I could repurchase this, this isn't available at drugstores or groceries. If ever you see this rockstar, grab it. It's  worth the money.

I like this SIVANNA COLORS Waterproof Mascara. It has a natural look, great for school and work use. I won't repurchase this though because I want something that makes my lashes fuller. Drugstore mascaras are better by price and quality.

I don't what happened, but this Celeteque Acne Solutions Oil Control Toner didn't have a significant effect on my skin. After applying this, my skin feels a little sticky which I'm not comfortable with. It doesn't control oil, at least for me. I'm not gonna buy this again either.

Of course, I'll buy this PH Care Intimate Wash again. The best feminine wash in the drugstore. This is a need. Haha!

This Garnier BB Eye Roll-on is an innovation to the market. It's easy to use and very blendable. I'll buy this again if they ever have a sale and a shade that matches my skin.

I have other used up products that I have not shown to avoid redundancy. If you have any requests or suggestion please let me know. I'll talk to you soon. Enjoy the rest of the holidays. Love you all! XOXO

Hello! Today I will sharing to you my product empties, finally. Haha! I'm proud to show the stuff that I have used up over the months. I have collected this for a while in this blue shopping bag that was given by Banco de Oro, a local bank, together with the Rewards Card they sent me. Anyways, most of these are skincare stuff because they are the ones I use on a daily basis. Majority of these are from the drugstore. You can find a lot of precious find on the drugstore if you have the perseverance and being keen on reading on the ingredients, I don't wear makeup everyday, but I have hit pan on some items that I will be blogging soon. :)

Head and Shoulders. I have gone through bottles and sachets over the years of this anti-dandruff shampoo. This has been my holy grail hair care ever, I have repurchased this over and over again. I have tried their other lines, like the menthol, smooth and silky, intensive care and others. As I have said before, this is the only brand that doesn't make my hair itchy. The Apple Fresh smells really sweet, I wanna eat it.  The Anti-hairfall is okay, I didn't notice any significant difference when I was using it. Right now, I am using a different shampoo and I'm gonna stick to it for a while. As much as I hate to admit this, but I don't think I will be repurchasing H&S again because it contains chemicals which are harmful for the health. I'm talking about sulfates and other stuff. Most shampoos do contain them. :(

Mondes Professional Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Masque. When I bought this, I was so excited because I finally found a hair care item with Argan Oil that isn't expensive at all. I got this on sale last November for 99 Pesos. The product itself is okay, the smell is good, consistency is thick and it has tiny orange scrub-like kernels. I haven't seen any significant difference on my hair when I was using this. I wouldn't repurchase this because it has parabens and other harmful chemicals. I'm sorry to those who like this product. :)

Myra VitaWhite Whitening Hand and Body Lotion. The only lotion that I have repurchased 2 times in a row. It does lighten my skin, giving me that fair healthy glow all over. I get compliments with this product. What's different with this from other whitening stuff is that it's infused with a handful of Vitamin E, which is known to beautify the skin. I cannot put into words how much I love this lotion. It's great for everyday use, but it only has SPF 15. Anyhow, it still rocks! Yes, I would repurchase this.

Dove Damage Therapy Curl and Sculpt Defining Mousse. This hair mousse is the best thing ever. It does what it claims, not stiff nor sticky. It gives my hair a little bit shine and it holds all day long. I've used this until its very last drop. That is how much I love this rock star. \m/ I got this from Puregold Duty Free in Tarlac. I would definitely repurchase this, but our local grocery stores and Watsons dot sell this. Why oh why?

Glam Works Charcoal Nose Pore Strips. This is one of those average drugstore nose pore strips. This removes blackheads on surface of my skin, but I don't like it's really digging deep. The black strips sticks on the skin if it isn't being wet enough. This is really annoying. I'm not going to buy this one again.

Dove Ultimate Visibly Smooth Deodorant in Nature Fresh. I love the fact that this deodorant is indeed stubble free for a longer time. When the hair grows back, it can be easily removed because it's thin and the roots have softened. But, I don't think this is anti-perspirant because I sweat on the afternoon when I was using this product. It annoys me a lot. I don't want to repurchase this. Sorry, again. :)

A Little Romance Body Mist. Hands down. This is by far the best body mist that I bought. It has a sweet powdery note that isn't overwhelming nor nauseous like other scents out there. It's somehow between baby-like and ladylike. It lasts for a couple of hours, which isn't really bad for body mist. How I wish Tupperware would make a perfume version of this. I would buy this over and over again.

Nivea Extra Whitening Anti-Perspirant Deodorant. This doesn't magically whitens my underarms and it's not anti-perspirant at all. I just love that this gentle to my skin and it doesn't worsen the color. Yeah, I have issues regarding this part of my body. The texture is somewhat milky and it dries quickly. I think I've repurchasing this stuff for that reason.

Garnier Pure Active Energizing Cleansing Foam. I don't have acne prone skin, terrifying pimples. The reason I bought was to use to prevent pimples from arising on my skin. This is really good in terms of cleansing and making my skin appear brighter. It did give me that radiant youthful glow. But, my problem with is that it opens my pores and so blackheads were appeared on the surface of my skin nonstop. I guess this is suitable for people with normal skin with no blemishes or whatsoever. I have an endless battle with blackheads and this product does not help.

Clean and  Clear Active Clear Acne Clearing Cleanser. Then again, another acne preventing face product. This was okay, though I don't really like the smell. This broke me out so this will out of my stash forever.

Clean and Clear Deep Action Cleanser Oil Control. The best face cleanser for oily skin that has made ever yet. I'm not even kidding. A lot of products out there in the market claiming that they "control oil for hours" but doesn't work. Guess what? I have found a product that it does what it claims (in the realm of oily skin). My skin was oil free for hours if I don't put anything else on my skin. I've gone through two bottles of this but I think I would hit this again. This contains "parabens" too and other harmful chemicals. I will try to find something organic.

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub. Yay! The last item. I have been using this brand for years, switching from different lines. I know that they are very well-know for their array of quality and effective products, especially their apricot scrubs. I love the fact that they are semi-organic and paraben-free. I think I might repurchase again. :)

So, that concludes this post. If you have any product recommendations that you would like me to try please leave a comment, or tweet me. Suggestions are very much welcome. If you have a blog post like this, you can send me the link so I would know your products. That would be really interesting. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you all have a great day. Stay safe! XOXO

Hello! I've finally found a time for this blog. Yay! As I have said before, I'm busy working my way to the Graduate School. I went back to the university yesterday and a good news came in. I was exempted for the interview because I got an above average score on the entrance exam. Oh my goodness! I made it! This is one of the happiest days of my life! I'm so proud of my self. :) I'm not being haughty, okay? It's just I wanted to share the good news. Then, I also got a job interview last Saturday and it went well. I think that I might be able to get the job. :)

Anyways, I'll be doing a haul post. Since I have done fashion posts the previous month, I decided to give more attention to beauty products this time.  I have accumulated a lot of stuff recently from various stores. I got some makeup items, hair stuff and nail lacquers. Some of these were purchased last month. Without further talking, I'll show you now the products.

I went to Watson's a few weeks ago just to check out what's new on the store. I was browsing the hair section and I saw this hair lotion for curly or permed hair. It was from Monea, called Curl Defining Milk Hair Lotion. I picked it up to try if it's good too. I thought to give it a try because this sounds promising, thinking that this would be better better because it has milk. Besides, I'm already running low on my Dove Damage Therapy Curl and Sculpt Defining Mousse. I've already tried this and I have mixed feelings about this. I will review if I have formulated my firm and final judgment on this. As I have said before, my hair is permed. I have post all about it in here: Daily Products for My Permed Hair.

Monea Curl Defining Milk Hair Lotion / Php 99
Then, I also got a skincare product. It's the RDL Clarifying Toner. This was the only toner I could find on the face section. I don't buy toner usually because I already have loads of stuff for my face. I decided to buy again because my skin needs a little help, it's been drying lately (though I have a oily skin). I was surprised when I opened the box because product is in a neon pink color. A little bit scary for a drugstore product. I thought that this would my skin because of the cheap price, but it didn't. I have been loving this since I tried it. This baby would most probably on my October Favorites.

RDL Clarifying Toner / Php 36.75
A week and a half has passed, I went to another Watson's store to check some of their nail polish. I think I'm becoming more obsessed with nail polish than I do with makeup. Is that a good thing? Or is it scary? Anyways, I didn't find anything that amazed with so picked up two blue nail colors and a top coat, also in blue, from the brand My Polish. The brand is new to me, so I decided to try their lacquers and see if I'll like them. The color payoff isn't that great. It comes off sheer, 3 coats for opacity. I don't know if I'll get products from the brand again.

My Polish Nail Polish in Neon Blue / Php 16
My Polish Top Coat / Php 16

After my trip from Watson's, I headed to Saizen. It's a Japanese all-in-one store selling all of their items from Php 88. I was debating to my self whether to get a makeup item or not. Most of their stuff were from Taiwan which seems really odd and doubtful. Meaning that people will not be getting Japanese quality because their items were manufactured in Taiwan. But, I found my self buying an eye shadow palette in purple shades. I particularly bought it for the gray eyebrow powder that came with it. I don't use brown shades for my brows. The shadows are chalky, glittery and sheer. That's okay because it was cheap. Haha!

Diamond Eye Shadow and Eyebrow in Purple / Php 88
My last stop at the mall was HBC. If you don't know, I'm one of their members. :) I wanted to purchase a lippy in a lighter shade. As you have noticed, I have been using bold colors the past month. I wanted something toned down and isn't dramatic. I was swatching their testers on my hand when I stumbled upon this peachy nude lipstick. I immediately purchased it because it was the most beautiful nude lip color I've ever seen. Something that isn't pink. It has SPF too. Cool! It looks dark on the picture. My camera didn't pick the color well.

San San Age Defense Lipstick in 03 / Php 109
The last products I got are also nail polish. Okay, I'm getting crazy. Haha! Anyways, I bought these from a local boutique here in our town. I forgot the name of the shop. Geez, Sylden. Haha! I didn't find anything exciting at the store until I saw their nail polish rack. I instantly browsed it and got 3. All of them are in the shades of green. They were made in China. They don't have names. I'll have the swatch of the last one on my Instagram account. My feed's on the sidebar.

That's it for my haul. Did find anything interesting? Do you have any products that you want me to try? Let me know. I hope you enjoyed reading this post. More upcoming posts, I promise. Thank you so much for reading. Talk to you soon. Have a nice day. Stay safe. :D
