Delightful Illusions

Hi, guys! Today, I will be talking about my May Favorites for the year of 2016. I don't have much products to talk about because I'm currently doing projects and I have been using the same makeup items since January. For this favorites post, I will be showing you the skin care and hair care products that I truly loved and used a lot on the month of May. If you are interested to know what are my recent beauty favorites, just keep on reading.

Nivea Extra White Repair Pore Minimiser Toner 200mL
This toner is surprisingly gentle and doesn't have strong alcohol scent at all. You know how commercialized brands work, right? They will have all the claims they want on their products; when you buy them, they actually do not work at all. You don't get what you paid for. This toner is different. It's thin, has sweet scent, light on the skin, kind of moisturizing, and removes excessive dirt, makeup, and oil on the face. I have noticed that my skin went from being dull to pinkish-radiant glow. It also made my skin feels soft and looks smooth. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for an effective toner that's worth the price.

Human Nature 100% Natural Night Moisturizer
I wasn't a fan of face moisturizers in general until I used this product. I have an oily skin and moisturizers aren't my friends. I was curious to try this product since I never used a night moisturizer before. Since this is an organic product, I decided to buy this and see what it will do to my skin. The first thing I noticed when applied this on, it has a medium consistency, leave a semi-sticky feeling on the skin, and smells like actual plants. This thoroughly absorbs into the skin and makes my skin feel so supple and soft when I wake up in the morning. The very best thing about this is that it fights zits and pimples. I had a zit one time and I applied a generous amount of this on the affected area. Do you what I saw when I woke up the following day? The zit has flatten a little bit and it wasn't painful anymore when I touched this. I continued using this night after night and my zit was gone. It was gone without transforming into a pimple. This product is a life saver! I'm note sure if this could cure pimples or acnes, but if you are interested in using this product, you should try. This is one of the best skin care products I have ever used.

Victoria's Secret Bergamot Smoothing Scrub Wash
The best body scrub I have ever used! It smells so good. The smell is the main reason why I love this product. The smell lingers on the bathroom for hours and stays on the skin as well. It has that citrus scent that is calming yet addictive. The texture is gelee-like; thin, non-greasy and not sticky at all. I love that this has moiturizing property but isn't heavy on the skin. If you are looking for a light, good-smelling, and gentle body scrub, try this product. You'll love this.

Daily Defense Argan Oil Conditioner
This conditioner is way better than the conditioners I have tried my whole life. It make my hair incredibly soft and smooth. It has light weight formula and doesn't leave a greasy residue on my scalp after washing my hair. It smells sweet, like a cupcake, and lasts long through out the day. It relaxes my hair making it controllable. I have been using this since last week of April but it has still a lot of product inside the bottle. If you are a cruelty-free shopper, get this because it's cruelty-free and affordable. If you find this, just try this and I'm pretty confident that you'll like this product too.

Revlon CustomEyes Naturally Glamorous Shadow/Liner
This eyeshadow palette is included one of the projects I'm currently doing this year. This is one of those makeup items I have used and forgotten about for years and years. Recently, I have been experimenting on different eyeshadow combinations and I have found a nice way on how to use the liner shade on this palette. As you can see above, the liner isn't quite pigmented and won't work when worn alone. I tried using this shade as a shadow base and layer with a light brown eyeshadow. The result gives kind of a brown taupe shadow which is kind of my thing as I really love dark eyeshadow looks for everyday. I've worn this combination a lot on the month of May and I liked it. If you are interested on this palette, you can still get  this on the Revlon's website and Amazon.

These are my favorite products from the month of May. I genuinely love all the products I have mentioned and would be happy if you try them as well. I have linked all the products so you would know where to find them.

What are your favorites products recently? Please let us know so we could try them too. I hope you enjoyed this post. Comments are always welcomed, appreciated and replied. Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll talk to you soon. I hope you have a great day. Stay safe.

Hey, guys! I know, I know. I have for too long, I'm sorry. Work and practicum (for Graduate School) have almost killed me, made me sick, due to a busy schedule. This is the 4th week that I'm working on weekends and I'm starting to feel lazy. Have you ever felt like that? Haha! Anyways, I will be talking about the updates of my Products I Want To Use Up in 2016 Challenge. I started this project last January; I promised that to give updates every two months.

Of all the project pans I have done, this is by far the successful one, even though I'm just doing this for two months. I am actually using the products involved constantly; I am determined to finish what I have started this fine. My progress will be seen on the pictures you will see in a moment. If you are interested on my update, just keep on reading. :)

Clinique Different Lipstick in A Different Grape (right) - I've been using this pinkish grape (according to the description) shade a lot since January. It looks way too dark, but I tell you, it has a light swatch on the lips. It's buildable and has creamy, thick consistency. As you can see, I have used this more than the lipstick on the left. I'm totally into this shade. I hope I could finish this at the end of the year. It's getting old.

Clinique Different Lipstick in Shy (left) - This is described as a midtone violet, which is kind of contrary in person. It swatches on my lips as a sheer plum-berry glossy shade. It feels like a lip gloss; has a higher amount of shine than the A Different Grape. They actually look similar; Shy is a sheer glossy version of A Different Grape. This product is a struggle for me, I can't use this alone because it's so sheer. I don't use this all the time. I doubt if I can even finish this lipstick this year. I'll see what I can do.

Etude House Look At My Lips in 04 - A pale pink shade which isn't really good-looking on my lips; doesn't match my skin tone quite well. Though it's nice to top on my dark lipsticks. I mainly this for topping and combing with other lipsticks. Maybe I could use this up at the 2nd or 3rd Quarter of the year.

San San Age Defense Lipstick in 03 - A peachy nude glittery lipsticks which smells like chocolate. I have used a lot of this the first time I got this. It blends in with other lip products nicely, though the glitter are kind of messy. Evidently, you can see how I love this lippy. I ought to finish this one because I don't want this to go bad. I will be done with this in a couple of months, I guess.

Mary Kay Eye Mineral Color in Honey Spice - You can see some deep going on there! I have used this as my main eye lid shade since the last week of January. It looks pretty and brightening. On the next update, maybe you'll see the pan already. Haha!

Ever Bilena Advance HD Eye Pencil in Natural Blonde - I love this as an eyeshadow base. It's thick consistency helps the eyeshadow to stick on the lids longer. I also notice less creasing upon checking up at the end of the day. Maybe I'll use this up in 3 months. Let's see.

AVON Glimmerstick Cosmic Eye Liner in Galactic Green - A glittery moss green eyeliner which sticks on my lash line all through out the day. I also use this as an eyeshadow base, at times. I still have a lot to use up. May you'll see a shorter stick on the next update.

Etude House Look At My Eyes Pearl Shadow Base - Yay! A wider pan. I used a good amount of this cream shadow base over the past 2 months. It tends to be glittery when I put too much on my lids. It goes way up to my crease when I blend this product on my eyes. I hope 50% of this base on the next update.

Etude House Look At My Eyes Cafe in Honey Milk - Umm.. I haven't got a significant progress on this one yet. I use this to highlight my brow bones. I need to get on the pan of this really quickly. I need to double time on this one.

Nichido Foundation Stick in Ivory - I'm almost there! I use this as a concealer on  my dark circles. It has tint of peach-orange, perfect for discoloration on my under eyes. I know I could use this one up towards the end of the year.

Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder - This blush is another struggle for me. It's pretty, but the product itself is hard. It's sheer and glittery. In order to speed up, I use this on top of a shadow to create a peachy golden glow.

Revlon CustomEyes Shadow/Liner in Naturally Glamorous - I have saved the last product for the best. I have hit pan on 3 shadows in just 2 month! How satisfying is that!? I have this shadow palette for years, and I have just hit the pans recently. I'm happy though. Seeing the pan means your are getting closer to finishing it up. My target is to hit pan on the rest of the shadows this month; and wider pans on the next update.

REPLACEMENTS

The following products are replacements for the original items included on this challenge. My IN2IT Supreme Eyeliner was accidentally broken because I dropped it last last week. I didn't feel right in claiming that I have finished it so I picked up another item. Then, the Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color is actually gone bad; it's stiff and hard to use up. I picked another powder blush in replacement.

Elf Studio Blush in Tickled Pink - This is the replacement for the Mary Kay blush. As you can see, I've already hit the pan; this was included on my last project pan challenge. I love this pink blush. It has glitters on it, but is barely visible on the skin. I might use this one up before the year ends. I not sure. Haha! :)

Maybelline Clear Smooth All-In-One Pressed Powder in Nude Beige - This is the replacement of the IN2IT eyeliner. I have this powder since last year and I have used a good amount of this product. This is the best powder for oily skin and it doesn't do what it claims. It's a decent powder for setting my face though. I'm quite sure that I can finish it up this year.

This concludes my update. I think that I'm doing a great job on this challenge this year. I'm now focused and determine to do my projects now. I'm hoping to have a greater job towards my next update. The next one will be on May, so stay tuned for that.

Are you doing beauty projects too? How is your experience so far? If you are interested on my next update, just follow this blog to keep you in touch. Thank you so much for taking the time to read. I'll talk to you soon. Have a great day. Stay safe. Love you all!

Hitting pan on a product is a makeup junkie's happiness. Collecting makeup products is easy, but using them all up is seem next to impossible. That may sound absurd but it's undeniably true. Most videos and blog posts I have seen and read related to this post are products people really love, but, in my case,  have hit pan on these products because I don't want to waste my money. I'm the type of person who buys beauty products and try to finish even if I don't like them. You cannot just throw your money all the time, that's ridiculous. Seriously. I also don't like my product to be expired without even consuming half of it. I like to get my money's worth. :)

Panned powder makeup products, of any kind, are the hardest to hit. These bad boys are so compact that they it takes us forever to kick with our makeup brushes until we reach the bottom. Haha! Anyways, I will talk through the products I have "kicked" and tell you some pros and cons.

This peach blush is called Nichido True Colors Collection Powder Blush in Peachy Glow, which is actually included in the blush trio together with other warm-neutral blushes from the said line. I have for quite sometime now and I say that this was the first blush I have hit pan on the palette. There was a time where I used this non-stop because it gives me that healthy glow without looking like somebody just slapped me. I love how it looks natural on my light toned skin with yellow undertones. The only cons I have for this is that it only stays for 2-3 hours and the product itself is chalky. If you are looking for an affordable blush and has a matte formulation, definitely grab this one. You can find this at Watson's and SM Department Stores.

This warm spice blush is also from the blush trio I have mentioned above and it's the color Spice Rum.Though i'm not really quite sure if really is the Spice Rum, but it looks similar with swatches I have seen on other bloggers. I'm sorry, I forgot to look for the on the Nichido counter. Anyways, I was hesitant to use this at first because it looks scary, considering that I have really light yellow skin. Then an idea just popped into my mind as I was looking at this guy. Why not use this as some sort of contour shade because it's warm? This could suit my skintone and undertone. Well, I tried the technique and I can say that it worked. This product makes my other blushes look really good and complimentary. I use this underneath my blushes to create an illusion of contoured face structure. I do not know if this will work with other skin tones as it is really warm and orangey. Why not try it? It's not expensive. :) I have the same issues with this this blush; doesn't last long and chalky.

This shimmery eye base called Look At My Eyes Pearl Shadow Base is from Etude House. I have talked about this before on my August 2013 Favorites post and I still stand that this product is good on its own. Layer this with a lot of eyeshadows on top and it won't crease for extensive hours. I love how it has a creamy texture and applies like a powder in the eyes. It's luminescent, a little bit metallic and glittery. I was surprised to find out that this product takes a long time to hit pan on despite of my usage. The consistency is pretty thick though it's blendable; it could be toned down or up for intensity. The only downside to this is it's packaging; the cover doesn't lock much causing it to be opened inside my makeup bag and mess everywhere. Haha! This is a perfect eye shadow base for on-the-go ladies like me.

I was obsessed with this neutral brown from to-go palette of ELF which is not available anymore. This has a matte formula and is perfect for the crease. It creates dimension once I pair this with shimmery and metallic shadows. How I wish ELF would make an individual shadow of this color and in a bigger size.

This Maybelline To-Go Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder Foundation with SPF 15 in Natural (Woah, a really long name) is a so-so powder. Though it claims to have a medium coverage, it doesn't cover much. It doesn't last long either with or without a primer. It says that it controls oil but it isn't; an hour later I have already an oily face. I think this would be nice for touch-ups and not for foundation. The only good things about this are: 1.) it's matte with silky texture and 2.) it smells a little bit sweet. If you are interested, you can find this at Watson's, SM Department Stores and Robinson's Supermarket.

Another blush from Nichido! Haha! The major reason why I have hit pan on this is that this was my 2nd blush that I purchased when I was just starting with makeup. I have used this a lot during my college days (5 years ago) Haha! By the way, this blush powder is called Passionate Red, also from True Colors Collection. This is a nice blush, gives me a rosy cheeks and is pigmented. All of the Nichido Powder Blushes are in fact pigmented. An individual blush retails for Php 88.

I loved this 2-Way Cake Powder Foundation from Ever Bilena in Natural. It has a medium coverage, it isn't cakey and lasts all throughout the day even without a primer. The oil may come up but the products still stick on my face. The downside to this product is the mirror it came with; it fell and broke. I was on verge on finishing this product when it suddenly slipped on my hands and fell on the ground. It cracked and was broken apart. ;( So sad! Haha! You can fin this at Watson's, SM Department Stores and Grocery.

Those were the products I have hit pan on. I have actually thrown away the other stuff because they were already expired and gross. There's no need to show them. Haha! What are makeup items you have kicked the pan on? Please let me know so I could search for them or share your link if you have posted them on your blog. Thank you so much for stopping by and reading this post. I will talk to you on Saturday or Sunday, I won't be coming home this week (until Wednesday) because I have to facilitate another workshop (work, work, work). Haha! Have a great day. Stay safe. I love you all! ;)

Hello, world! Welcome to my little world of beauty! :) How are you, guys? By the way, I decided not to post a birthday haul because I wanted to talk about something useful and worth of your time.Instead of a haul post, you will be reading about products that I use daily basis for my permed mane. Please watch for my next post if you would like to. It might be a makeup look with a tutorial. :)

My hair has been exposed to various chemicals for such a long time. I started dying my hair way back in 2010. Because grey hair had spread throughout and gotten visible, I have to put a solution to it. But I was so wrong. Dying the hair actually contributes more grey hair in the long run. So I had to dye every once in a while to cover up. Then, just last year, I started using hot tools for styling without any protection (because of laziness). And after that, I went to a salon and have my hair rebonded, it became more thin than my actual mane.. The result? Even more damaged hair It was the most neglected part of my self, no treatment at all, not even conditioner. Oh my goodness, I was so cruel to my hair. By the end of last year, I have to cut it short and I opted for a bob hairstyle. I was so bored of it and after two months I have to cut it again. Then, last July, I had my hair permed (with cellophane treatment) so I would get rid of the thin-haired look.

I'm loving my hair style right now and I've never been so attentive my hair's needs before. I even came up with a daily hair care routine. I guess, I learned my lesson. Hehe! So, today, I'm gonna show you my hair products and tell you some tips for permed hair. Enough of blabbering. Let's go...

A good hair day always starts at the shower. It's important to clean your hair to remove dirt, oiliness and dandruff (in some cases). I use Head & Shoulders because it's the only anti-dandruff shampoo that works for me and it also cleanses my hair pretty well. Then for my condition, I use the Dove Damage Therapy Intense Repair. It treats damaged hair and split. I love it so much and I already bought a second tube.

I always start styling with a damp hair, drying the excess water with a towel.
As a rule of the thumb, permed hair should not be comb through it.  I stopped combing  right where my waves start.

Using my both hands, I coat my waves with a Macadamia oil evenly. I'm really careful not to touch my scalp when using this because it will cause greasiness. It's great  for on the go hair. It makes my hair soft, shiny and tangle free. It also helps protect the hair.

To enhance my my waves, I use a styling mousse. I use this one if I will just be around the house. It volumizes my hair, giving me a Hermoine Granger look. It contains Pro Vitamin B5 for a healthy hair.

Whenever I go out, I use this mousse. It's the Dove Damage Therapy Curl & Sculpt Defining Mousse.  I love how it makes my waves curly and soft. It has a nice clean smell.

A fair amount of mousse for a portion of hair would be nice. I style my permed hair by scrunching. Yeah, scrunch, scrunch, scrunch. :D

Then for the final touch, I use a shine mist. I love that this product makes my hair highly laminating. It protects hair from heat styling and environmental factors. It also tames frizz and treat split ends which is great because I can't comb my hair.

Products shown:

  • Hair Treats Hair Coat (Macadamia Oil) - available at Watsons and SM Beauty
  • Professional Touch Salon Styling Mousse (Extreme Hold) -  available at Watsons and SM Beauty
  • Dove Damage Therapy Curl & Sculpt Defining Mousse - purchased at Puregold Duty Free, Subic
  •  Citre Shine Anti-Frizz Spray Laminator - purchased at Duty Free

I guess what I'm trying to say to you guys earlier is that take care of your hair. Think and research first before doing a style, treatment or trend. It's just about the look. It's always better to have healthy looking hair than to look stylish but full of damage. Anyways, I'll go ahead now. I hope you learned something from this too. Thanks for reading. Have a great day. Bye! :) XOXO
